Squeaky / ratleing

My 2001 Boxster has squeaky doors and engine cover. Don't know if the latches are loose, the weather stripping needs lubrication, or the door's loose interior parts are the cause. Thought I might start by working on the weather stripping. Any products to recommend or avoid?

After cleaning instrument covers (clear plastic) with glass cleaner and then spending time fixing that mess, I thought it better to ask for help rather than simply start applying silicone first.

This sounds crazy, but try this. Wrap the strike plate on the car body where the door latches with some electrical tape and see if the rattling\squeaking stops. If this works it's likely the plate just needs to be adjusted.
