It's a GAHH top I installed myself about four years ago. There was a fantastic write-up/instructions on how to replace the Boxster top in Excellence magazine that was published about that time. When I get home I will try to find that magazine. Taking a pit stop in Springdale Arkansas for a day or two. I spent about 15 hours on the road yesterday. |
I connected the Durametric system into the car while in Michigan and there was that pesky P0430 alarm… again. No check engine light but the alarm is hanging in the Fault Code queue. I cleared the alarm in Michigan and checked it again today (after a 15 hour drive yesterday) and it’s back. Looks like I will be replacing catalytic converters soon (guess I can’t complain after 217,000 miles).

On The Road Again

I'm on the road again... I took a different route through Oklahoma; I took 412 west (Turnpike) then 44 west (Turnpike) and jumped on 40 west in Oklahoma City. Making good time today, no flats so far!
Picture of a section of highway 59 I thought was interesting. |

Storm in New Mexico

The JägerMobile is going to get wet.

Wow
I just drove through the hardest rainfall in my life. Florida and Louisiana have nothing compared to the down-pours of New Mexico! Cars were pulled over in both lanes; the water was at least 2" deep on the hill! I bet there was over 12" of rain fall within 10 minutes. The JägerMobile got a thorough cleaning top side and bottom side.

When I drive in rain, I have to slow down to 40-45mph because it feels like my car is hydroplaning at 50mph+. It always feels like it is steering itself away and like I am about to lose control of the car. I was thinking this happens since the front of the car is lighter. Tires are in great condition. I think they were new when I bought the car 9 months ago.
Is this feeling normal? Or is it safe to drive faster? This is in normal rain. Middle Speed setting for wipers. |
Hey, ProjectM96, summer tires or all season? Also, check those little flaps in front of your wheels to make sure they're not beat up or just gone altogether like one of mine practically is. They hang down vertically in front of the tire, and they're there to try to lessen the amount of water getting into the wheel well and to the brakes. Just a thought. And stay away from the big puddles ;)
I only notice the sensation you're talking about when I'm driving much faster than I should be in wet conditions. |
