not sure what would be considered the best response, however from what I have been told by some very savvy Porsche Engineers, after about 125,000 miles is when one might consider replacing the engine.

My 2000 just turned 24,000 miles... I only drive it about half the year.

I was also told that for those interested in upgrading their Boxster engnes when the time comes it is possible to modify the engine compartment of Boxster to fit a Carerra 3.4 L engine.
