THAT is weirder than weird. It has to be some kind of replacement gasket, maybe a generic one as has been suggested.
You might try a permanent black marker on one small area, and see how it looks before doing the whole thing.
Black markers are a trick the concours guys use to hide/fix problems on black trim pieces. Works really good on screw heads, but I have never tried it on any of the rubber gaskets.
