Edit: The cost was $2,089.00 to warranty the car for 5 years from the day I bought the car, or to 99,561 miles, whichever comes first. (The car had 39,561 miles on it when I bought it in October 2008.)

Good to hear you are using it. The cost is based on the year of your car, how many miles on it and what kind of deductable you want.

I do all my own work and will do a IMS upgrade but not until next winter. I wanted something to CMA until then so I got a 5 year up to 75000 miles with a $200 deductable for $1400. Cheap piece of mind.

Maxcare's fine print

Claims that all parts are covered except those listed. Then goes on to give an elaborate list of what is covered. Which is it? IMS not listed.

Claims non-covered parts covered if the result of covered part failure. No claim of covered part covered as the result of non-covered part failing (as in IMS taking out engine if IMS not covered).
The link above that Mike gave is for the Maxcare brochure. The attachment (if it works) is the terms and conditions of the Maxcare contract.

That language looks like a sea of red tape. "insufficient lubrication".....your engine explodes. they drain the oil from your new roller and determine that you were 1.5 ticks below (or maybe above) where Porsche said you should maintain. "sorry you failed to maintain, claims are denied".

I agree that they'll look for any reason to not pay. If you maintain your car per mfr rec and can prove it, that should strengthen your position if they deny. I always carry an extra quart of oil; if your engine dies just make sure it's topped up.
