Fuel system bleeding?

Hi,

My 00 Boxy has been off the road for a few months & in the meantime I decided to change the fuel filter.

No it is running like a dog, won't idle, backfires, misfire, coughs & splutters etc.

Do the injection systems required bleeding?

The battery also went flat so not sure if that's the issue.

Any idea's guys?

The fuel system does not need to be bled.
Disconnect the battery and charge it for at least 12 hours on a trickle charger.
Then try again.
Low voltage from a suspect battery can do strange things.......
Keep us informed of the outcome.

don't discount the need for the ECU to learn all over again after it has lost its memory because the battery went flat over a long period of time.

Depending on what type of battery you have, check its "water" levels, load test it after it has been charged, then run the car for a good while and in a week or so things will settle. Also get a new full tank of gas.

Good article in the Nov 2010 issue of Excellence on what happens when the battery is disconnected or discharges and the ECU loses its memory.

+1 on the fuel. It's been sitting over the hottest months, then into the cooler months. Might be a little water in the fuel tank.

Oops! Just saw your location...been sitting in the cold and now it's getting warm. Same procedure!

Thanks guys,

I got some fuel conditioner that I will put in it 7 new battery charger as it seems my old one has died & I see how it goes.

Will post the results.
