don't discount the need for the ECU to learn all over again after it has lost its memory because the battery went flat over a long period of time.

Depending on what type of battery you have, check its "water" levels, load test it after it has been charged, then run the car for a good while and in a week or so things will settle. Also get a new full tank of gas.

Good article in the Nov 2010 issue of Excellence on what happens when the battery is disconnected or discharges and the ECU loses its memory.
