Fuel system bleeding?
Hi,
My 00 Boxy has been off the road for a few months & in the meantime I decided to change the fuel filter. No it is running like a dog, won't idle, backfires, misfire, coughs & splutters etc. Do the injection systems required bleeding? The battery also went flat so not sure if that's the issue. Any idea's guys? Cheers |
The fuel system does not need to be bled.
Disconnect the battery and charge it for at least 12 hours on a trickle charger. Then try again. Low voltage from a suspect battery can do strange things....... Keep us informed of the outcome. |

Except
don't discount the need for the ECU to learn all over again after it has lost its memory because the battery went flat over a long period of time.
Depending on what type of battery you have, check its "water" levels, load test it after it has been charged, then run the car for a good while and in a week or so things will settle. Also get a new full tank of gas. Good article in the Nov 2010 issue of Excellence on what happens when the battery is disconnected or discharges and the ECU loses its memory. |

edit: Oops! Just saw your location...been sitting in the cold and now it's getting warm. Same procedure! |
Thanks
