Ignition not allowing Key to enter

My ingition tumbler wont allow the key to enter. I am stumped

Does it go part way in then stop? There are two parts to the ignition. There is a tumbler section and then the switch section. When you put the key into goes through the tumblers and presses the switch in the back down. If it doesn't go in at all then it's a tumbler section problem and you'll probably need dealership or locksmith help. If it goes almost all the way in then jams it maybe a switch problem and that's a DIY fix.

Try turning the steering wheel a bit left and right while turning it on.

EDIT: Oh wait, you're saying the key won't go all the way in...nevermind.

Turn the key 180 degrees lengthwise. The skinny metal part should go in first, not the black plastic part.

Ignition key difficulty

It's the tumbler assembly.. I just had mine replaced with the exact problem. You can force the key in and it will start so you don't have to have the car towed. Just be sure to manually turn the key back left from the start position so the starter won't grind. Also this problem may disengage the alarm.
