Top swap DIY
Hi,
does anyone have a DIY for swapping the whole top assembly (with frame) etc?

It's DIY (Do It Yourself), not DYI.

Mike Focke's site has a complete DIY guide, I believe Boxtaboy has done it.

Yep, have done it on my 01 when we put an 03 top with glass window on. Here's everything you need to know about top transplants....

if it is just swap of the top, it is probably the easiest ting to do on the boxster, even simpler than an oil chance!

The toughest thing is finding one at a decent price!

I was reading over Mike Focke's site, and one thing is still unclear. Can you in fact put an 03-04 top and frame on a 97-99 that has the old transmissions, switches, etc. and not change anything and have it work properly?
Thanks!

No- the 03-04 top is a plug and play drop in to a 2000, 2001, and 2002 Boxster, but in order for it to work in a 97-99, you have to do a couple of modifications in order for the control unit to understand when to stop cycling the top. It is very doable though, and Maurice (schoir is his handle here), has done it on his 97 Boxster, and it works perfectly. I would contact him for instructions if you source an 03-04 top.
