I can see a little oil burning of my exhaust on the pass side.that seems to be the only place I can see that oil is leaking .I had a 87 924s great ride

Aos is on right side and if it's going out you can have an air leak. Has two hoses and a bellow on the bottom.. Also if it's failing will have oil there.

I looked at the aos the top is dry the bottom is covered in oil.I'm going to bring it into the shop on Friday.any idea on what kind of price to expect

1 800 346 0182 Sunset Porsche. Part and top tube to intake was just over $100 and install took 2 hrs with just a jack, jack stand, 1/4in 10mm deep socket w/ extension, small channel locks, and small needle nose vise grips. Labor should be 1.5 hrs but a shop will probably charge 2.

Air/Oil Seperator write up?

Only things I did different was popped the bottom ball sockets to lift the top (my top ball sockets have pita retaining wires), and just used needle nose vise grips to compress the clamp on the bellows and reused the factory clamp. Also it is hard to get the small channel locks to pop the hoses off, i used my fingers and a real careful screwdriver to pry. Oh, and I did more from underneath than Brad did.

I also had 1128 and 1130 I am chasing. It's been a couple of weeks but only 100 miles or so, fingers are crossed hoping the aos was it.

BTW, thanks again to Brad for the great write up, it was super helpful.

i just had my AOS replaced and am still getting the 1128 and 1130 codes (mainly on cold days or when I get stopped at red light/stop sign for prolonged periods of time)

I don't think it's the AOS causing this, but most likely a vacuum or exhaust leak

P1128 = Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 1 - Above Limit
P1130 = Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 2 - Above Limit

These errors can have many causes including:
  • Fouled MAF sensor
  • Exhaust Leaks
  • Intake Leaks
  • Low Fuel Pressure
  • Fouled Fuel Injectors

Because you're gettig them on both banks at the same time, deductive reasoning suggests we can eleminate those that would be more likely to create an error in only one bank, leaving us with:
  • Fouled MAF sensor
  • Intake Leaks
  • Low Fuel Pressure

You replaced the MAF, and a bad AOS could create an intake leak, so your are on the right track. If that doesn't solve it, a fuel pressure test would be in order.
