Are these headers bigger than 986S headers? Please help!!

Hi I have been in conversation with a member on here and we are really confused which headers he has. Here are the part numbers
Right header: stamped "987/01" and part number 987.113.103.08
Left header: stamped "987/02" and part number 987.113.104.08

I currently have a 3.6L in my Boxster and have aftermarket Fabspeed headers for the 3.2L on there and we would like to know if these are the headers with the bigger ports?? Any help is greatly appreciated. I know Todd posted something a ways back saying the 2005+ Boxster/Caymen S headers are way bigger???

Yes, you want 987 headers on your 3.6 in a 986 car.

I'm the guy with the stock 987 headers. They are supposed to be from a 2006 Boxster S. Since that is a 3.2L car, I'm not sure that these have the larger port openings that are needed for use with a 3.6L engine. The primaries are clearly larger in diameter than my stock 2000 3.2L headers, and the design is better overall than those headers.

My preliminary research indicates that the 3.4 Cayman S and 2007+ 3.4L Boxster S were built with the 3.6L cylinder heads. If that is true, then stock headers from a 3.4L Cayman S or Boxster S would be a good fit on a 3.6L swapped 986. Perhaps Porsche used the same headers on the 2006 3.2L Boxster S and the 2006 3.4L Cayman S? I am unable to prove which model years these headers are supposed to fit because the parts catalogs are not working (I get a 404 not found error) on Porsche's website. If I had a header gasket for a 3.2L or a 3.6L, I could figure this out pretty quickly. I do know that the port measurement at the flange is 1 9/16" x 2 3/8"

There is a difference between 3.2 and 3.4 987 headers. The ones you want are Cayman S (which are 3.4) headers. Why do you want to use stock though? A lot of guys with 3.6 swaps use the B&B Cayman S headers.

Those B&B headers are likie $2,000 i think. So we came to the conclusion that Blue-S's headers are smaller than the 3.4 headers?

Having tried a complete B&B system, then stock Cayman S headers with B&B secondary cats and mufflers, and finally a completely stock Cayman S system, I prefer the stock setup.

Why stock parts? Besides being thoroughly tested by the Porsche engineers, there's this to consider:

Fabspeed 987 Headers w/cat = $2565

Fabspeed 987 Headers w/o cat = $1965

B&B Cayman Headers w/o cat = $1999

Used, stock 987 Headers w/cat = a lot cheaper than the above

If an emissions inspection is necessary, the stock parts look stock too...

So I spoke with Todd and he said the 987 headers are about port size, i think the difference between the 3.2/3.4 is the primaries..Thanks for the information Blue-S!
