Use the showmans blend. No equal to it and it works very quick. Just apply on a microfiber towel and hand buff.

yes I am considering painting it black if I can find a high temp paint that is fairly shiny like black chrome..

I start with Nevr Dull (has cotton wadding saturated with the polish)...
...but, once started, I usually end up going at it with super-fine steel wool to speed the process up a bit.
