Aero Kit for 986 & 987
Hi,
I have three questions regarding the Aero Kit for Porsche (see attached picture):
1) Is the Aero Kit available for 987 Boxster or Boxster S? Maybe they changed the name, but I've never seen any 987 with a Aero Kit. All I've seen on the internet and in real life are Aero Kits on the 986 Boxsters.
2) Can Aero Kits for the 986 Boxster still be purchased? I don't seem to be able to find them. I found one aftermarket kit ( http://www.fiberwerks.com/986_boxster.htm), which I think looks hideous.
3) How difficult is to retrofit an Aero Kit? Especially the rear spoiler.
Thank You

1) No, 987 use a whole driffrent kind.
2) Ebay, that's where I found mine for $80
3) Very easy actually. You do need to paint and drill the trunk....only scary part. I did all myself for under $100

I disabled the original spoiler so that it does not retract, per the Aero kit guidelines.

Also, where do you get it painted?
What about those specific Porsche colors like Titanium Grey Metallic? Can any paint shop mix those colors or do they have to order it from Porsche?
Thank You

I just tried calling that GTmotorsport website, but their number has been disconnected. So much for that.
Are there any other places in California that sell those kits and preferably also paint and install them?

I found this store:
http://www.bodykits.net/wings-and-spoilers/porsche/boxster-986/152058/
they have the entire GT3 kit. But the wing looks a little weird. Maybe it is just the picture. The GT3 bumper and rocker seem to be ok.
I'm somewhat worried about the following statement though:
On average 85% of the Duraflex parts we sell fit with no problems. About 15% will require minor to major modifications. These parts do not come ready to paint. In fact, they have to fitted, primered and then painted.

Carefull with this "brand"...I know several auto part importers based in Cali, i can tell you that this is one of those Made in China chains.

So Duraflex is not a good brand then?
What is a good brand?
Which manufacturer made the original Boxtster Aerokit option?

Does someone know who manufactures the original Porsche OEM Aero II Kit?
I've heard the name Zeintec but also Techart. None of the manufacturers sell the body kit through their website though.
Does anyone know?

Kyle,
Last winter I completed a Hamann body kit project on my Boxster . A word of caution, regardless of price or prestige, none of these body kits or aero parts come "ready to go out of the box". They all require a tremendous amount of detail work and craftsmanship to bring them to a level of perfection. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise ! As far as quality products and brands are concerned, I researched them all in extant before I made my decision. If you would like, I would be more than happy to share with you my experiences.
Johnny
p.s. Neither Zeintec or Techart make the OEM Aero Kit for Porsche. Its a polyurethane
product that Porsche has the rights to the molds, and they simply out source to a private manufacturer.

So if it the word Zeintec is stamped into the bumper it is not the original OEM Kit? I'm asking because the bumper I'm referring to looks just like the Aero Kit bumper, but was manufactured by Zeintec. Now, Zeintec doesn't even sell the bumper on their website. Is there any chance that Porsche had them produce the bumper, hence their logo inside the bumper?
Also, I'd be very happy if you could share your research information with me.
I'm sure there are other members who would be interested in this too.
If it is too confidential, there is always PM
Thank You
