xenon bulbs for 986

i want brighter headlights. i see xenon, white light bulbs on ebay anywhere from 10~75 dollars. any suggestions?
when i was shopping for my box, i've also seen guys with boxes with their headlight lens (the inner ones) burned out alittle. is this due to those aftermarket xenon bulbs? should i not bother?

I put a set of these in a Lexus SC400 and really like the way they look. So far, I have not noticed this burned out look but it has only been a few days so far.

When it comes to purchasing replacement bulbs, the word "Xenon" virually means nothing. I honestly think the aftermarket world/distributors thinks it's a color. And I've seen the ones you've mentioned on eBay. I'd be willing to bet that those are equal to any other "Xenon" bulbs you can by for $20 or less. Stay away! Many claim to be legal too, which also helps them sell; don't believe it.

If you're only interested in replacing bulbs, I think the Sylvania SilverStars are noteworthy. They're less yellow than standard halogen lights and truly are legal. They don't compare to a real Xenon lamps (not bulbs) or Litronics, but in my opinion they're the best of the halogens. They should go for under $30 or so (available at any Pep Boys, Advance, AutoZone, etc.).

I purchased an aftermarket HID Lighting System (REAL Xenon) and have yet to install it. Once I do I'll be sure to post my results (w/pictures). Good luck with your purchase and please share the outcome.

I have to admit it...

I tried the Eurodezigns bulbs and I am impressed. I have replaced all the bulbs with them and they indeed do look hid. The yellow bulbs are great for fogs! These are USA made bulbs and are 55watt not higher which could burn your reflectors.

I've tried and liked Matrox Ultimate White and Matrox Ultra White. They will run you $15-$20 a pair at summitracing.com

how focused is the lighting? sometimes these aftermarket lights have a very sloppy projection (lighting the sky and trees instead of the road)

Go on eBay and type in HILITE Industries. One of my distributors sells them on eBay for cheap. I own that company and they typically retail in stores around $60 per set.

I believe the bulbs in the headlights just provide the light, it is the lens/reflector design that directs it. So the amount/quality of the light would be dependent upon the bulbs, but where it goes should not be affected... so long as an H4 bulb is being replaced with an H4, etc.

I'm not sure which bulb number is for the fog lights. I own the company that imports these bulbs and distributes them to distributors all over the country. The company who sells them on eBay is MLC Distribution out of California. They sold I think around a million dollars of our bulbs last year. Email them and speak to Tony, he should be able to help you with fitment questions. They are one of our authorized dealers on the West Coast.

False Advertising is Annoying!

Fraudulent advertising I say!

If you expect results like those in this before and after picture, a healthy dose of disappointment may be on its way. First off, I suspect that image has been through Photoshop. A skewed color balance and brightness enhancement can synthesize identical results. Furthermore, if you overlap the images, they line up to the PIXEL! [see image below] That's difficult even if you do use a tripod.

Though some blending would occur, I'd like to see the driver side bulb left standard and the passenger side bulb with the HILIGHT. I'd be willing to bet this eBayer would sell a lot fewer HILIGHTS.

well I'm going off the very high number of positive reiviews. Those photos aren't even from a Boxster and lighting something that is only 5 feet away doesn't really show me how its going to work on the road. I'm pretty sure with the limited options in Halogen world, that these will be an improvement. I hope.

I agree PLap...anything will be an improvement over stock...here's a dumb question (and it's only because it's too cold out to trek to the garage and my owner's manual...do we have H4 or H7 lights?

I just went through this all day. We have H7's. I decided to give the Philips H7's a shot while I was at the Auto Store. Only to find out the Porsche already had the same bulbs! So I gave the Sylvania Silverstars a shot. No noticeable improvement but a little whiter.
