Clutch and 90k Service questions - 986 Forum - The Community for Porsche Boxster & Cayman Owners

Hi everyone.
I just got quotes 2400 dollars to get a new clutch and flywheel installed (labor included). Does that seem reasonable? Also, if anyone here has done a 90k mile service on at a shop before, how much did you pay? I'm trying to get a feel for what might be coming down the road.

that sounds high to me. I had my rear main seal changed (almost same labor as clutch) and the labor alone was 8 hours ($800 for me). Clutch and pressure plate will run no more than 450 (really high max) for your car and a fly wheel would run 750.

They may be trying to squeeze some more labor out of you, but I personally would cap it at 2k.

I had my clutch and RMS replaced for about $1,200 - parts and labor. I'm not sure what a flywheel runs but the additional labor shouldn't be much more since they already have things apart. Of course - that was at a well-regarded independent. If you go to a dealership you can expect to pay almost twice as much.

If you got that estimate at a dealer, it's probably MUCH higher than you would pay at a good independent shop. Check around, I bet there's at least one Porsche specialist in your area.

This was at an independent shop, they specialize in Porsche and Ferrari. I think they do their job mostly for pleasure though, because when I asked them to do something for my Boxster they refused saying it was too bothersome to take apart a Boxster.

I'll call up a few other shops, I know a place that does German cars in general.
