Rain X attacks rubber and neoprenes. If you put it on your side windows, it will attach the rubber seal on the door edge.
By the same token, it will damage the rubber on wiper blades, no?

I don't understand why anybody would use rain x on anything other than windows.

I used to do this as well. I would fill a bucket with my wheel brush, under carriage brush, soft top brush (oxo feather tip), sheepskin glove, waffle weave drying towel, my own car wash soap and toss in the front trunk. Basically I would only use their water.

You can also go to Home Depot and buy a 2 gallon fertilizer sprayer ($15) and fill it with water. A few pumps and it puts out nice pressure stream. Two gallons is plenty to clean off the paint.

Rain X

Actually Rain X does attack the wiper blades, but those are a replaceable item.

The window seal of the top of your doors are not meant to be replaced. I will admit that I use it on the rear mirrors, but I try not to get it on any of the paint.

People like Rain X because it helps keep everything clean and easy to clean.... like emblems.

FK1 #425 works very well on the windshield, I sometimes don't use the wipers at all if I'm going pretty fast. #425 is completely safe for rubber, paint, plastic, headlights, tail lights, glass, tires, wheels, tv screen, helmet.
I buy it by the gallon. Keeps dust down, prolongs wax life and cuts down on washing.
