question about uploading photos

I see many of the forum members add a photo of their car when they respond to a thread. Can someone give me directions on how to this is done.

I did try to add an attachment but it said the upload was too large (it was only a 1.5 meg photo).

Thanks
Eric

1.5 megs is huge. It should be about 50K (at most) which is 30 times smaller. Download this program and shrink the file size: http://www.irfanview.com/

okay, so I see you guys have pics in your signature, how is this done?
I wouldn't want it this big, but I can resize with a program in my puter, but I haven't figured out how to attach an image in the siganture section of control panel.

In top right corner click on "Private Messages"

Then click on "Edit Signature" which is over to the left side under ""Settings and Options" in the Control Panel.

Insert using the IMG tags.

I see now the mistake you are making.

You are trying to insert a file called net3.jpg

However, you have to first upload that file somewhere on the Internet and then use the full path such as http://www.some-internet-host-where-my-image-is-located.com/net3.jpg

"Tanks" cartagena. In this day and age, I think "tanks" may be a better form of gratitude than "thanks"!!
It was that way to have an avatar at talk forums I used to go on.
Now I have to go back and figure out how to put the pic in my old, never used, free earthlink webpage.
Crap, I hate to have to think............

That didn't work. I can't figure it out, It seems like it should be as easy as copying your photo and pasting it in your signature page and not typing in a lot of code or visiting other sites on the web. I tried the code as described but I ended up with code in my signature beginning and ending with img and not a photo. I'm on a Mac, does that make a difference?

Any idea why my images are double?
I upload the image, then using the [img] function I paste in the image address [copy shortcut from loaded image]. I get an image and then I get another one in a managed attachments box. I spent a lot of time trying to play around with it and figure out how not to have duplicates, but never resolved it.
