I am no expert on 986 seats. But there are only two possibilites:
1) The motor is not working for some reason
2) There is something blocking the seat from moving forward

If the problem is #1 then get someone to diagnose and fix it. But if its #2 then I would start by tipping the seatback all the forward. Maybe the seatback is jammed into the rollbar. If that does not work then try looking under the seat and see if there is anything blocking the track. If not then try to unbolt the seat and play with it when its not bolted to the car but still plugged in.
