Hey LB,
Great minds must think alike, my display is fine but being in the military has taught me one thing. Always be prepared for any contingency. I ordered my back-up display today and will shelve it along with my other array of spare parts. It sounds like there's a run on these displays by the posts I've read.
The gloss vs matte finish will be dealt with when the new part arrives.

LCD Screen in kit not Matte Finish as original
The main thing here is that these do work and look a lot better than a display with the half moon bleed that stays orange even with the car off. I like the look of the new one and would not think twice about doing it again. Plus I saved a lot of money with this.

After seeing the reaction, and all the sales generated by my post, maybe I should contact them again and try to negotiate some kind of finder's fee....
Seriously, I'm glad it's worked out well for everyone

I want the finders fee.
When I first saw it on ebay 1 1/2 years the LCD display was being sold only for Audi. I asked the seller if it would work on a 996/986 because we use an Audi display.
Then the seller changed the listing to include the Boxster.
This is the company. http://www.modulemaster.com/en/index.php

Just checked modulemasters site through the link TP put up and I found a small discrepancy.
On the ebay page, they state the LCD replacement has a " NEW DESIGN WITH COMPLETE LIFETIME WARRANTY ". But, on the mm website they say it has a five year warranty - shorter lifetime...lol.
I'm sure it's an unintentional snafu, just like the exacto knife reference in the instructions, but to be safe, you may want to print a copy of your ebay receipt page and tuck it away just in case.
It still may not guarantee you a lifetime warranty (I mean who's gonna sue for a $50 part years later if they say NO?), but at least you'll have a leg to stand on.

I will be changing out my Climate Control display tomorrow (or the next day). The instructions call to "gently" pry out the fascia trim panel.
Any tricks or recommendations before I gouge up my dash with a screw driver while cracking / breaking the plastic trim? The rest of the job looks pretty straight forward.

Did it last night. I pried from the top and the face plate popped right off.
Total time from opening up the package to final testing was about 1 hour.
Now I can tell if my AC is on or not.
