Weird Radio

My radio works fine until I start the engine and then the radio dies. It won't come back until the engine is turned off. I have checked and replaced the fuse behind the radio and the one in the fuse panel and it continues to do this.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chad

The starter switch has been blamed for a lot of weird electrical problems. They are said to be easy to replace.

My brother is a service adviser for Porsche and he thought the same thing. I don't want to pour a bunch of money into it as it is going to be converted into a Spec Boxster at the end of the summer.
I'll look into the starter switch as that may cause me problems down the road.

For clarification, I think you mean the ignition switch (the electrical part)

Here is a link to Mike Focke's page which has instructions http://mike.focke.googlepages.com/ignitionswitchreplacement

p/n needed is 4A0-905-849-B
the B on the end is very important.

Might try VW or Audi dealers as it's a common part across those cars too. Should be < $30 (seen it as low as $15) and about 15-30 min DIY replacement depending on your flexibility/contortionist-ic abilities

Good luck and hope that's the issue
