Paint Sirius antenna?

Well, I finally broke down and did it. My sat radio reception was so poor (and I NEED it) that I ran out of locations to try and ended up putting it outside on the clamshell.

So now I wonder if I can get rid of the black puck look by painting the antenna a colour closer to my car colour. Has anyone tried that, or does it compromise the signal yet again?

I've heard reception isn't compromised too much w/ non-metallic paints. Not sure that's the answer you wanted but might be worth a shot

worked great for me... my 2000 has holes in the cowl there, so you can see the antenna underneath.. but you have to really look for it to see it...

My XM antenna is on the "metal-ish cover" that is over the speedometer mounted inside the car. Works alright, although I still transmit to the radio and am unsure if it would sound well hard-wired.

My XM antenna is under the black plastic infrared sensor cover in the center of the dash. Fits there perfectly and it gets excellent view of the sky even with the cover installed over the puck.

The cover just pops off and there's a metal bracket you can set the antenna on. I ran the wire along the gap between the windshield and the dash on the pass side.
