the Boxster is a very reliable car. As w/ any car, there are some that have more issues than other. The rule of thumb is to find the latest model, lowest mileage you can find and afford. Having said that, personally, I'd look for one w/ at least 20-25K on the clock and w/out a doubt make sure you have a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) done by a qualified mechanic (one who is very familiar w/ Porsches to say the least). It'll cost upwards of $300 but worth every bit to find any hidden troubles especially those prone to P-cars and Boxsters. Here's a great guide Mike Focke put together on buying a used Boxster. There are a # of parts, but I'd read them all. He also has a model year difference chart on his site.
