what are good mileage on used boxsters from 2000? 2001? 2002? 2003? etc.
and are the boxsters reliable?

the Boxster is a very reliable car. As w/ any car, there are some that have more issues than other. The rule of thumb is to find the latest model, lowest mileage you can find and afford. Having said that, personally, I'd look for one w/ at least 20-25K on the clock and w/out a doubt make sure you have a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) done by a qualified mechanic (one who is very familiar w/ Porsches to say the least). It'll cost upwards of $300 but worth every bit to find any hidden troubles especially those prone to P-cars and Boxsters. Here's a great guide Mike Focke put together on buying a used Boxster. Not sure what you mean by "good mileage" but I think most would recommend a car that has a fair share of miles and the records to match them up. If you find one that was a daily driver, expect 10-12K miles per year. If you find one that was a "3rd car" expect maybe 3-5K miles per year. 2000 and newer avoid some of the problems of the early cars, but there are no absolutes. Find a nice car, have a PPI performed, and set aside 10-15% of the price for "incidentals". Enjoy the search and take your time. There are literally HUNDREDs of Boxsters on the market at anyone time in the US.

i found a couple boxsters

1) 2003 base model $20,990 with 54k miles
2) 2001 s model $22,222 with 42.5k miles

are those good deals?

That depends and is becoming a more difficult question as more "seasoned" Boxsters are available. I am seeing more Boxsters that were marginally cared for. As the price drops more people can afford to buy them but maintaining them properly is another thing that some people underestimate. I saw a 2000 in a used car lot recently that was really beatup. As with other older Porsches, condition of the specific car is becoming as important as age.

My $.02, although I absolutely love my 2001 Base model that I've had for about 10 months, I can already tell I am going to be looking for the S model shortly. Don't get me wrong, the '01 has plenty of get-up-and-go, but it's always in the back of my mind that there is a faster one out there for just a few dollars more. I don't know how much HP difference there is between the '03 and '01S off the top of my head, but the S has bigger/better brakes and a few other extras. Just drive both and see which one grabs you the most.
