Any experiences buying used motor from Oklahoma Foreign or LA Porsche Dismantlers?

Does anyone have any experience to share in buying a used engine from either Oklahoma Foreign or LA Porsche dismantlers? I'm looking for the good experiences, the bad experiences and the ugly experiences as this is a big decision for me. Thanks,

Mike

Garage
Another option is to find a shop to install the motor first and let them find one. That way they are responsible plus you can sometimes get a not to exceed price.

I've taken a walk through Silver Star Recycling in Sacramento, CA. They're on the web and they sell used engines too. They had some very interesting stuff that looked good. I was just window shopping though. One thing that appealed to me is that they did a compression check on every engine they get. I think that's VERY important and something I would insist on before buying. I would also 100% stay away from anything that's been in a fire (yes they do sell these). The engines I saw that had been in a fire were nasty. Definitely 10X the work to refurbish then!

Just my two cents. Sorry, I've still got my stock 3.2L (for now), so no direct experience.
