I think traffic cops in general are enforcing a sham. If the law makers were serious about controlling speed they'd install speed sensing cameras like they have in Austria. No one speeds, less accidents and no need to pay a cop to ride around randomly poping "speeders". But this America and I firmly believe that the highway cops are going to go after the cars with drivers who 1-have the means to pay and 2-will in fact pay up at some point.
20 cars will travel 10 miles over the limit but they will pinch the guy in the German car and let the 15 Minivans, Toyotas and Corollas slide.

And every cop that has ever pulled me over has ALWAYS had an attitude about
my "expensive" car and seemed annoyed that a young person was driving it.
One cop not realizing that I was on DOT R-Comps said (in a know it all tone) "your tires are worn badly, I could easily impound your car but I'm going to do you a favor and give you these other tickets instead, if you can afford to buy a nice car then you can afford new tires for it". I wasn't about to explain to him that my "worn out tires" had better grip than 99% of the cars he'd pulled over that day, I just shut my mouth happy I escaped points and said yes sir, absolutely sir, will do sir. Most highway cops hate being argued with.
Anyhoo the way we enforce the speed laws is malarkey. If they were truly interested in making the roads safer and not just raising revenue, in addition to the speed cameras, they would pull people over for driving too slow in the passing lane. Congestion in this lane leads to stacking up of the other lanes, which in turn leads to the biggest problem: dangerous weaving. A slow passing lane also creates danger when drivers start doing parallels three or four abreast. Then you've got all the cars behind hitting their brakes at 70mph. That's how you get chain reaction accidents. The way to avoid this is for the police to ensure that the passing lane "pressure valve" is always open and going faster than the other lanes.

Griz is right. Traffic cops just go where they are told and it is a powerless, thankless and dangerous job. I am glad they are out there even though it often seems like they have little impact.

If you pass a cruiser it is a sign of disrespect. If you don't give him an obvious reason to pull you over (no front plate, tinted windows) he will look for a reason. Never never pass a cop.

+1 on what Griz and Bruce wrote. I've yet to be pulled over for simply driving a Porsche. Then again, I don't mod my car illegally nor do I recklessly speed -- things obviously present amongst other P-car drivers.

What I do find quite funny is that many people on this forum get pissed about cops or others talking about "them" and "Porsches" whilst great humor is derived from making fun of "ricers" or people with more econmical cars or cars modded to their taste. Am I the only one that notices the hypocracy? Viva el Caste system!!! Seriously, when you guys go to a casino, do you sit there and whine when you gamble and lose and the casino won't give you your money back? Either give the cops a break or write legislation to back your opinions on the legality of tinted windows and other violations like license plates on front and back and driving +10 over the speed limit. Otherwise, if you are too busy and important and shug at the opportunity to perform a civic responsibility to enlighten the public with your vastly superior knowledge as to what should and shouldn't be legal, then shut the "f" up because whining isn't very endearing.
