To those very unfortunate souls who have had IMS failure or know somebody who had one, can you please post the following details:

-Corrective action taken
-Cost
-If out of warranty, successful PCNA support (Y/N, magnitude)
-Year
-Mileage
-2.5, 2.7, 3.2, 3.4, etc
-A sad venting story

It would be great if there was a way to change your vote if you get IMS failure in the future. Still, This is a good poll to have!

We should periodally open the poll and see what happens!

I wonder . . .

If the IMS issue is a type of systemic flaw that will eventually cause all boxsters to die. . . .

Or if the IMS failure will only affect a small % of M96 derived engines, regardless of lifespan. I just can't beleive that porsche (after all these years) has still failed to find the root cause of the failure and correct the problem. Same goes with the RMS - I assume 987's still leakey?

Thumbs down

Hi, Also are there any preventative measures that can be taken to avoid these 2 types of Failures.
The occurrence of these failures over a 10 year period is just unbelievable to me.

Smile

Minn Jim knows more about this than I do and has posted before so that you can do a search for the details.

In short,

We don't believe the design issue is resolved as there have been post 05 Boxes with IMS. Also, there is nothing that you can do to prevent this as the issue is design, not use.

I think this is correct.
