All I am saying is that in the free USA there are different acceptable actions. In my section people road race but do not talk about using guns "For serious social work " 95% of the people in our section of the country have multiple weapons, but we do not think that statements as such are socially acceptable. It is a matter of culture and not maturity. I just do not understand how you can try and repremand me for talking about road racing but not scold someone who talks about shooting people.

Hi,

One thing a lot of these Asphalt Aces have to look forward to is reaching a maturity where twisting the Ignition Key is not a prelude to a Throw Down to anything on wheels, and where some idiot trying to pave the roads with rubber isn't any kind of an affront whatever.

I have to say that the Gun threads don't really thrill me either. I own several Classic and Expensive Hand Guns - Walther PPK, Kriegs Marine Naval Luger and such, but they're locked in a Strong Box in a Bank Vault 12 miles away from me.

At one time, Guns were a Tool of the Trade for me, and I had to use them. But, they really don't do anything for me, not a form of Hand-held Viagra at all...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99

An explanation is in order here. NO ONE is talking about shooting people randomly or other wise. If one has to shoot someone to preserve themselves and their family it needs no apology. No one, including myself, EVER wants to be in the position where a shooting will take place for self defense. I and others would have to live with that horror for the rest of our lives, just ask any combat vet. They live with those horrors forever. I, and I am sure others who have posted, do not want to be in a position where gun play is necessary. The "...serious social work..." comment that I made is black humor that refers to the failed social policies and work that created a predatory monster that the rest of us have to worry about. Policies that may put us in the position to defend our lives is what prompted the comment. Socially acceptable? I suppose that depends on what side of the issue you are on. Carjackings also happen at an increasingly alarming rate therefore the car thread connection.

Racing thread.........

I see that I am not the only interested in posting a thread of whom I beat on the street etc, since it is not acceptable practise here. But my point is, see there are many otherz who are interested in what the Boxster is capable of doing. But I am gonna keep that to myself even the sessions on the track.

As for the guns, never read the post, but from this thread, I am wondering why a gun post(s) has anything to do with Porsche Boxsters. I think racing in a Boxster has more to do with this forum and the car and carz in general, than guns. Unless you a gangsta who does a driveby with da Boxsta with da top down. Anyway, glad guns are illegal in my country, just North of you. I don't have to worry about my neighbor gunning me down because I stepped on the wrong side of the lawn or someone who doesn't like the way I look at them or road rage incidents etc. And of course the illegal arms in this country, I wonder where they come from. Peace and say No to Violence!!!

Regarding willieb, as you mentioned there are guns in canada illegaly, correct? While I dont care either way; guns being good or bad, dont you think that the people in canada with guns are the ones most likely to shoot you if they know its illegal and did illegal things to get them? It just seems like gun laws only stop the people who obey the law, lol. I dont see gangster thugs going gosh darnit I cant get a gun now. They just do what they gotta do and kill whoever gets in their way... or maybe someone who has a nice car... like a boxster. While it is worst case scenario, few people would actually have a gun to protect themselves, but im sure someone's life could have been saved. I cant speak from personal experiance, but in america I know plenty of people who keep firearms in their cars/trucks, and they in theory could protect themselves.

Kills stories are great, but there is a time and a place... I just find it a little ignorant to gloat about killing a car while in my boxster in a straight line... sure I have killed some quick cars... 3rd gear at 70mph in a 986S is FAST! Legitimately fast, but thats (hopefully) not why everyone bought their boxster. If you had just wanted to make kill stories, try a GM F-body... But with that said, Im all about you telling me how you killed that 997 carrera S at the track last weekend.

You guys are kidding right?

Nothing wrong with sharing your driving experiences with others. There was NOTHING dangerous about any of the "kill" posts on this thread. As if none of you have sped in your boxsters. I would like to think that someone that owns a Boxster would have enough common sense to know what is safe and what is not in a car, and not be influenced by a thread on a Boxster site as to whether or not race a car from the lights in unsuitable conditions.

PS I don't know ANYONE that owns a gun

PPS I just saw the "New German Toy" thread. What does the purchase of a handgun have to do with a Boxster forum? The moderators need to have a good look at themselves....

I was wondering that myself. I found this forum researching automobiles. Usually you would find guns in an Off Topic forum.

Buying A Boxster To Drag Race

makes no sense to me there are better, faster, cheaper cars for that ... if 0-60 is your bag. Beating a 68 Mustang (even the big block Cobra's were not that quick) and a Fiero can be accomplished by a Civic. That being said this forum's administrators don't like Kill Threads and most of us are "Take it to the Track" vice Kill guys. There are other forums for that. Quite simply his home his rules. I love it when someone gets called out for something and then comes back with the "But these other guys did this and it is bad too and you did not reprimand them" answer. Not the issue here. I like this forum for the lack of kill threads, anti Police Officer threads, and even for the occassionally off-topic look what I bought thread (note the puppy thread recently was not called out either.) Joking about buying handguns is way diffent from talking about participating in street racing at least to me. FWIW been in the USN for just over 29 years (4 years at Canoe U before that) shoot quite well do not own a gun. My choice ... do own a dog retired Greyhound ... he raced a Dashund yesterday ... talk about a Kill.

Tom

This is, like, SO not fair guys.

It's perfectly legitimate to race another car on the freeway. Sure, there are laws against it and step penalties (in VA, it could cost you $3k due to a new law that went into effect today, I think), and sure there are countless stories resulted in loss of life not only to the racers, but also to innocent bystanders, but who cares about all of that? It's, like, totally awesome when I pull up to a Ferrari 360 in my Civic w/ the dual Greddy exhaust and, like, totally blow him away. He must have been intimidated by the Japanese lettering on the side of my car.

On the other hand, there was recently a thread about a new puppy, of all things! Do you know what puppies do? They grow up and turn into dogs, and one time I heard a story of a dog biting someone! Similarly, there was another thread about guns! And one time I heard of a guy shooting someone with a gun. That's so unfair, and I think guns and dogs should be outlawed because they're SO unsafe. And knives, too. And scissors. And ropes. People have all used them to kill other people!

Anyway, that's all. Race on my Darwinistically-challenged friends.

Good one!

Everyone has an opinion and you have shared yours.

I will review the gun thread, which I obviously have not done yet. There are TONS of threads and I surf, I don't read them all.

If I feel it is inappropriate, I will delete it.

Specific to how you feel about kill threads, that is your opinion.

However, I get the last word on that issue also so, sorry, anything glorifying street racing will be deleted.

Stick to the track where the real men and women test their cars and themselves.
