Hardtop Opinions
Hi All,
Just wanted to get some other opinions on a hardtop I recently picked up for my Boxster. On one hand, I like the speed yellow (or I wouldn't have bought this color) and think I should have it painted body color but on the other hand I like how the black top contrast with the yellow (like the soft top) and think the having it all yellow might be too much yellow even though the top is be a relatively small part of the whole. As I have never seen my color Boxster with a hardtop in person I don't wanna drop several hundred $'s to have it painted only to hate it. Anyone here seen a speed yellow with the top? How did it look? http://www.justgoofinoff.com/images/boxster/box01.jpg http://www.justgoofinoff.com/images/boxster/box02.jpg http://www.justgoofinoff.com/images/boxster/box03.jpg http://www.justgoofinoff.com/images/boxster/box04.jpg http://www.justgoofinoff.com/images/boxster/box05.jpg |
I personally like the yellow and think you should paint the top to match.
Maybe someone with some photoshop skills can change that black to yellow in your pics to give you an idea of the final product? |
I voted to paint it yellow. Don't get me wrong - I kind of like the contrast - it's unusual and that's good. But it also makes me think of a hornet or yellow jacket (also not necessarily bad).
My only real comment would be to go that extra 1% and get the clear side markers.... Nice looking ride. |
if nothing else, i would paint the mirrors and windshield pillars that surround the actuall windshield black, wow that would look sweet

Found a picture for you, even though it looks really washed out. I actually like the black... but then again (absolutely nothing personal!!!) I have never liked a yellow car, so that's just WAY too much yellow to me. Also, I would not paint the A pillar section that comes up around the windshield or the rear view mirrors black, because imagine what it will look like when you put the top down. All yellow with just those black would seem funny IMHO. |
Perhaps the black top would look awesome and original with black rims. Othewise, paint it yellow.

I don't know, there's something about the black side mirrors that does it for me. I bet it would still look pretty sweet with the top off.. How about one with black wheels?
EDIT: Great minds Z! |
Wow, pete, great minds think alike. :)

By itself it doesn't work. Neat idea, but you need it to compliment the whole look not compete with it.
|
I would like to change my vote...I originally voted to keep it all one color, after looking at the black mirrors that is good looking and unique...
|
DJ, come on. Black rims pls. :)
Z. |
Yeah DJ - come on with it already. Jeez. We know you aren't working - and we aren't either until you get those up there.... :)
|
Does this hurt or help? Take a look.
|
Ooooh. That is one unique and nice looking ride there my friend! Sporty without being ricer. Me likee! I don't usually like yellow!

Hey, pete, great minds also disagree, but at the same time, nevertheless. :)
|
No, I agree - I've never cared for the silver around the rim look - but I certainly like the direction the black rims are taking this "project".
|
Okay - I'm not master at Photoshop so leave the comments to yourselves. But, I spent a bit of time adjusting a few things like adding an aero kit, new wheels, etc. I think with a few changes it could look great.
Tell me what you think... (damn, forgot to deamber the side markers!) |
