I personally like the yellow and think you should paint the top to match.

Maybe someone with some photoshop skills can change that black to yellow in your pics to give you an idea of the final product?

Didn't think of that - good call it would look pretty good. That would also be a good photoshop project...

I don't know, there's something about the black side mirrors that does it for me. I bet it would still look pretty sweet with the top off.. How about one with black wheels?

EDIT: Great minds Z!

By itself it doesn't work. Neat idea, but you need it to compliment the whole look not compete with it.

I would like to change my vote...I originally voted to keep it all one color, after looking at the black mirrors that is good looking and unique...

Hi all,

Thank you all for the input, comments and photoshopping...

I definitely plan on getting clears for it. They have somehow been overlooked in the other lighting mods I have been doing to it... i.e. recent clear litronics and i have to put the 550 red taillights on it i have... is removing the tails as easy as the headlights?

I had not even considered painting the mirrors and pillars black but that looks like a possibility if i keep the black top

I am considering either having the wheels powdercoated or painted black (maybe hyperblack?) and possibly the lips polished if I can find a good shop to do it. Anyone ever had that done and were you happy with the results? What did it run per wheel?

very nice ps examples dj, sp and i shouldn't forget denverpete's...

Thanks again,

Ian

Found a picture for you, even though it looks really washed out.

I actually like the black... but then again (absolutely nothing personal!!!) I have never liked a yellow car, so that's just WAY too much yellow to me.

Also, I would not paint the A pillar section that comes up around the windshield or the rear view mirrors black, because imagine what it will look like when you put the top down. All yellow with just those black would seem funny IMHO.

.
It's washed out because it isn't Speed Yellow. When the Box was first intro'd, one of the std colors was "Pastel Yellow", and I think that's what is in the picture.

Personally, I like the black top.

Yes, if pastel yellow had been the only choice of yellow, I must say I would have been driving a different color Boxster.

Ronzi, I love the color of your Boxster ....

What type/size of rims are you running....they look pretty sweet from what I can tell in your avatar pic.

Not that you're prejudiced about the color or anything, eh?
Pastel Yellow apparently wasn't a big seller as they phased it out after a yr or two, and it hasn't reappeared.

The wheels are an aftermarket Sport Design style wheel, 8x18 and 10x18. I have never been able to establish what brand, but they are a one piece wheel vs the Porsche two (or three?) piece wheels.

Perhaps the black top would look awesome and original with black rims. Othewise, paint it yellow.
