Question A/C Blower Fan (squirrel cage)

I am looking for the fan blade (squirrel cage) for a 1997 Boxster. I dont need the whole blower motor, just the fan blade. Anyone know were I can find it?

Hi GreggS, any luck finding just the fan blade? My fan was making a weird thumping noise and I found out that the broken blade was the culprit. The Motor itself seems fine.

The blower motor is made by Valeo. Here is a bit of info I had gathered about 3 years ago on getting a "Substitute", despite what Porsche says.

Cost of replacement Heater Blower Motor for 986 Boxster at dealer (part #996-624-107-01-M262; OEM part #1J1 819 021 A): $317.50.

Cost of same replacement Heater Blower Motor for Volkswagen Jetta Wagon 2.8 at VW dealer (part #VAG-15418-M177; OEM part #1J1 819 021 C): $121.

I have compared the photos at Pelican Parts with the actual blower motor from my Boxster and they are the same.

BTW, on my Boxster, the Boxster part has a prominent "VW" logo on it.

If you do end up getting one at the VW dealer, let the community know.

Regards, Maurice.

Blower Motor

I was able to find a used blower motor. I found this site that works with salvage yards all over the US (http://www.autosalvageyards.com/). You put in the make, model and year of your car - along with the part you are looking for and you get back replies for yards that have the part. Got it for $85 (shipping included). Works perfectly.

I've used this site many times...
