The lower rating 0w/40 versus 15W/50 just means your lower viscosity oil can handle lower temp's; ambient temp's not engine temps.
Put a quart of oil 50W oil in freezer and see what happens,
Then do the same for 0W/40.
I read a thread were a guy was running 0W/40 and began to hear tappet noises after a Auto X.
The oil thinned and was inable to compensate for the rigors of running hard.
In my opinion unless I have to run such a low viscosity oil as 0W, I would not.
In my temperature and range, price, availability range. I would rather run straight 50W or 40W.
But due to either one of those variables, I can not or will not.
