Sales people regularly show up touting them, and when we tell them "show me", they can't.

At least with the Durametric system, they show a matrix chart on their website by year and model for all late model Porsche vehicles, and tell you what it currently can, or cannot do. They do regularly update and add features, but they DO NOT make claims they cannot support. A perfect example is the service mode functions for the PDK, literally nothing but a PIWIS can do it because of how deep Porsche buried the code for how this system works because they don't want people messing with them.
So far it seems I might be goin the Durametric route. Although my only reason for hesitating now is I do work on many other vehicles for family and friends. In terms of Scanners, do you have any recommendations for ones that work well enough with the 986 alongside other vehicles ?
