My brother and I used to do the same thing. If one of us got into trouble, we'd blame everything on the supposed guilty party to keep the other out of the mess. The fellow taking the blame had to take the punishment in silence and couldn't implicate the other or you'd break our brotherly honor code.

Seems that it works for Porsche and VW too. Well, that plus an extra $599,000,000.
