tiptronic cooler control valve

Anyone changed the tiptronic transmission oil cooler control valve and have some helpful tips? Out on a spirited run in the twisties a couple of days ago and a cloud of steam suddenly came out from under the car (04 boxster s with tiptronic) and the low coolant light came on (was able to shut down before the temp had a chance to climb.) Thought it may be the reservoir, but instead it was the transmission oil cooler control valve split in half ( the same exact part as the heater control valve). Only a $50 part, but located above the trans on the passenger side above the axel. Was able to cut off the short piece of tubing that attaches the front of the valve to the metal pipe, but access is so tight around the rear of the valve that I can't get a tool in to remove the clamp or a knife to cut that tubing. Plan to replace the valve, both pieces of tubing and all 4 clamps with new ones, but can't seem to ge at it from the engine compartment or from underneath. Have already removed the rear tire, aluminum triangular pan under the transmission and the 2 long suspension braces and still no luck. Any tips? ( I have the special cable type clamp tool and have not been able to get it on the rear clamp.)
