I was able to update the design of the shifter with the desired changes using Rhino 5 CAD. This shows the model deign as a solid object. The honeycomb interior structure is added by the slicing program after this.

My first attempt at printing Version 2 (in white) had a bit of a problem! Reprinting a second time seems to be working fine.
