Summer sale, 20% off the RC-1, VR-1, and a rally tire:

Maxxis’ summer sale starts soon! Consumers can get Maxxis’ Victra RC-1, Victra VR-1 and Victra R19 for 20% off by shopping Maxxis’ eStore! The sale will run from June 25 through July 6, 2018, and shoppers should be sure to enter the code Summer2018 in order to take advantage of sale prices.
I still like this tire, but have found myself to be faster on the Hankook R-S4 in equivalent sizes:
  • 225/45/17 I get more front grip out of the Hankook R-S4 oddly
  • 255/40/17 I get more back grip out out of the RC-1, I almost never slide them while I do slide the RS-4

I might pick up a pair of 235/40/17 to try on the front, but for now I am liking the 225/45/17 255/40/17 R-S4 combo (it seems more balanced and the extra front grip is faster for me) - I have set new bests at Roebling and Road Atlanta on this combo.

I may get a new set with the 235 front to try.

Of possible interest is the 200 TW VR-1, which used to only have a 255/40/17 in 17, now has more sizes (but still not Boxster sizes) but priced very competitively. Per GRM tire testing, it is focused on consistency and durability so not as fast like an RE71R but more longer wearing like the Hankook.
