That's what I did, removed the flaking clearcoat, scraped off the porsche labels, sanded it down, and painted with VHT Red high temp caliper paint, followed by clear and then regular old decals from eBay.
However, don't ask me to post a photo, the car is a track car and they look terrible
It has been holding up though the last several years.
