I prefer to fix codes ASAP. Of course, I lived with my SAI codes for years, just because it doesn't affect the engine. I finally fixed that recently.
If the CEL isn't on and the car is running fine, no need to check. If I feel/hear/smell something odd, I'll hook up the Durametric and see what's going on.
