In addition the the ends, I think they need to go on in a certain orientation or else there will be a lot of twisting when installing them which can strain the ends. Maybe you can buy an OEM used one from woody and ship it to them so they can match it?

Edit: Or even a new one, like ATE brand, like $15-$20, send it to them and let them credit you the $20. If they really have a good product for $65 they would sell a ton.
