I've always defended Porsche's "other ventures" on the basis that they are the best in their class.
I'd always rather have a boxster or 911... But if I need an SUV, I'm glad to know there is a damn good cayanne diesel S available.
If I must buy a 4 seater, the Macan is an option I'd much rather find myself in than a juke or GLK.
While it may dilute Porsche to an extent, I think I find that a fair trade off for exciting cars in segments I would otherwise never touch with a 10 foot pole.
The mission E fits into this philosophy; id rather have a 981 spyder, but if I'm going electric, I am going with tech derived from the 918 and 919.
