Yes, the seller certainly didn't want to make anything easy or obvious!
Here are my thoughts; If its a 1999 986, then it should be a 2.5L engine. And if the transmission control module is included, then it should be a Tiptronic.
But it would certainly be best to confirm before dropping four large ones...
