I just put a set of Akebono ceramic pads, front and back for the 986 Boxster S in the classifieds section. Supposedly a very good pad for noise and dust, but I ended up not putting them on because I started doing track days and I'm going with EBC Redstuff.

For some insanely inexpensive/cheap pads, check out the economy pads on rockauto for the Porsche Boxster. Like $13 a set or something Centric, I bought the posiquiet ceramic ones for my son's Miata. Haven't put them on yet so no feedback yet.
