This is how the 2003-4 cupholders are (this is from a RHD model, so ours are reversed):
Sometimes it gets in the way of the HVAC controls (above radio) but I can't say I've ever had a dripping issue outside of condensation. Generally I drink my soda too fast to be an issue.
Also, have a GT3 console bin delete.
