Motorsports Department Garage Assistant

Here we have a very unique opportunity. We're looking for an assistant for Wayne to help with the various day-to-day projects here at Pelican that need attention. The tasks are extremely varied and come up somewhat randomly as various projects are worked on. This person should possess the following skills and personality traits:

- detail oriented (takes careful notes on everything)
- very organized and meticulous (toolbox is spotless and organized with shelves labeled)
- very patient (to deal with Wayne, who is often in a hurry and often frazzled)
- not shy in asking questions (to make sure instructioned are followed out to the letter)
- should be very mechanically inclined & have experience working on cars
- able to push, lift, and move heavy objects (like cars) when needed
- can work flexible hours when needed (not very often)
- must have a car, although most of the time pickups will be done with the Pelican truck

The salary range will vary depending upon skill level. For example, if this person has experience in building 911 engines in the past, then we understand that experience level will command a higher salary level. However, that level of experience is not required for this position. I would stress that the ability to work with a high-energy and high-precision boss is vital. The ideal candidate would be someone who is even-tempered, but quick on their feet.

Here are some sample tasks that have been handled in the past and/or will need to be handled in the future:

- Get new tires for cars
- Coordinate garage door motor install in warehouse
- Pickup various equipment / purchases in the Los Angeles area
- Paint shelves
- Fix leaky radiator hose on super Boxster
- Send in Halon tank for inspection for the Yokohama 962
- Setup vinyl graphics printing machine and create graphics for 962 nose
- Coordinate construction of our 935 full-scale 1:1 model build
- Coordinate installation of electrical circuits / conduit to power the gas station signs
- Orangize and categorize the 962 & other car parts in the mezzanine
- Check / Maintain tire pressures in the race cars each week / dust off the cars every week or two
- Organize and stock the shop toolbox
- Assist our tech department with technical articles / video creation
- General Pelican building maintenance (light bulbs, occassional touch up painting, coordinating outside contractors, etc.)
- Assist with shipping and/or loading the cars for transport
- Coordinate purchase / pickup of supplies for the shop
- Assist in repairs / maintenance of the racecars
- Take various cars in for service / pickup cars from service

Required On-Site Location: Harbor City, California

Interested parties should email their resume and general information to jobs@pelicanparts.com
