I read though it all today. Interesting. My takeaway is that (according to Bob) no oil is really thin enough at cold startup to avoid wear. Combine this with the small differences in true viscosity between oil weights and it may not matter a whole lot which weight oil is used - all of them will result in wear at cold start and nearly all will work fine at normal engine operating temperature.
