I have the Porsche battery maintainer that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket and it has done a great job for me. Not hard at all to connect/remove - no under hood work at all.

In the warm weather I don't use it with the driving frequency you mention, but cold weather is much harder on the battery - if the electrolyte charge level drops, then the battery can freeze and you're sunk.
