I know exactly what you mean about the effect of the sun on the color....purple hues.

As the sun hits the depths of the finish it has a chameleon like effect of slowly changing from bright blue to deep purple depending on the intensity of the light it is reflecting. I may be biased though, my car is also Ocean Blue Metallic and Savannah Beige.
