It's quite a chore to get into the fender to replace the solenoid. I had to go in years ago when I too broke the flimsy little plastic pull cord.

You'll have to remove the wheel, well liner and the carbon canister. If you're interested in more info, do a Search at RennTech. One bit of useful advice is to pay the local witch doctor to shrink your hands first.
