Replacing the AOS is relatively straightforward DIY job. Takes about 1 hour, working both from on top and from underneath, with the right rear wheel removed.
You should also replace the "J-tube", although there is a different version of this tube for later 986's IIRC.

In some instances, a faulty AOS can cause major engine damage if oil gets into the cylinders and causes "hydrolock". If yours is only leaking externally, it may not be as urgent, but tread cautiously.
